Stephanie Stacey Watercolour Workshop

Watercolour'sOn Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August a group of 13 local artists attended another very successful workshop organised by the Ravensthorpe Regional Arts Council.

For two glorious days we had the opportunity to paint with Esperance artist Stephanie Stacey.  Stephanie is an accomplished artist who works in watercolours, oils, pastels, silk painting and digital imaging.  She runs her own working studio in Esperance, Stephanie’s Studio which is open by appointment. She is also a fabulous teacher and we all came away feeling as if we had learnt a great deal.    For more information on Stephanie and her work, please visit www.stephaniesstudio.com.au

Well, it may not quite be Provincial France from where Stephanie has recently returned from a painting trip, but Ravensthorpe certainly put on the good weather for her over the weekend and Pat and Jane Chadwick at the Ravensthorpe Caravan Park very kindly put her up in their most comfortable cabin which Stephanie very grateful y exclaimed was spotless and more importantly... warm!

The Amazing Apron Project

blokes003RRAC wanted to spruce up the Hall for the 3 Blokes and Their Barbies Show.

‘Decorated aprons’ was the inspiration of Ainsley, and she and Kerin cut and sewed so we had around 50 aprons to distribute.

Enthusiastic members of the community, including schoolchildren, were told to let their imagination rip and to decorate their aprons in anyway they thought appropriate to the title of the show

The result was an amazing array of designs around food, barbies, Australiana and nature. They really brightened up the hall and created tremendous interest from the audience, who had a chance to vote for their favourite.

The winner of the popular vote was Sandra Kohen for her clever patchwork design, titled The CHEF AND HIS BARBIE. A very close second was Eleanor O’Driscoll’s saucy BIKINI BARBIE.

Zoe Foulds had the difficult task of judging the children’s section. The prize was won by Harmony Daws, for her colourful LOVE BIRDS.

All entrants in the competition were asked if they would be willing for their aprons to be sold at the end of the show. Through the sales and the raffle RRAC was able to raise money to offset costs.  So a big thank you to all involved.
